About the lesson
Latitudes and Longitudes are basic geographical terms which help us to the locate places on the earth.
Latitudes are the horizontal lines on the map. It divides earth into the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere from the Equator.
Some of the important parallels of latitudes are the Tropic of Cancer, the Tropic of Capricorn, the Arctic Circle and the Antarctic circle.
Longitudes are the vertical lines on a map and divides earth into eastern and western parts from the Prime Meridian.
Different parts of Earth also differ with their local time as they lie on different meridians.
