The motions of the Earth are essential for the existence of the life on Earth. The two main motions of Earth are: Rotation and revolution.
Rotation is movement of earth on its axis. Revolution movement of earth on its fixed path that is the orbit around the sun. The Earth takes 365 days and six hours to complete one revolution. The year with an extra day is known as a leap year. During the revolution, as different parts of the Earth are tilted towards the sun, solstices and equinoxes are experienced.
